The Transformation Series
This series was created for an assignment in my sophomore studio course. The goal of this project was to create a 7 frame series of illustrations depicting the transformation of an object to a narrative. These drawings are based in the landscape I visualized when examining the tarnished metal clasp on my keys. I challenged myself to try and suggest a plot unfolding in the scene without the inclusion of any characters. These drawings are each 12" x 12", and completed entirely in ink. This project as my first time really diving into drawing with ink, and I found myself hesitant to jump into a process so permanent. Despite the hand cramps that ensued, I believe this project really helped me grow as an artist. Mediums like this capture the intricacies and humanity of the creative process, and I am thrilled to have conquered the fear of permanence in my work.
